What the restoration does
The bot uses a restoration tool built for damaged photographs, followed by a face enhancer. It removes surface damage, evens out faded areas and recovers facial detail. It is meant to repair, not reinvent: identities, expressions and the original framing are kept.
If the photo is intact but small or blurry, the Upscale to 4K tool is the better fit: it enlarges the image and restores fine detail.
How to get the best result
- Lay the print flat and photograph it in daylight, straight on, without glare from glass or gloss.
- Fill the frame with the photo and crop away the table around it.
- A scan works even better than a phone photo if you have a scanner.
- Very small faces in a group shot recover less detail than a close portrait.
